Published by the Center For Book Arts in conjunction with an exbhition curated by Megan Liberty, This catalog reconsiders the early history of artists’ books. In the history of art, craft and conceptual art are often placed at odds. The design of the catalog is centered on the dichotomy between the two as represented by two similar but opposing typefaces. The content is presented in a densely packed format that intersperses essays with archival pieces to provide additional context to the early hisory of artists’ books. There are additional moments that recall the sun-fading of books, to remind the reader that books can have an effect on each other.
